Crescent Cocktail

Crescent Cocktail.

Wir haben uns auf die Suche nach Picon-Cocktails begeben. Dabei sind wir auf einen unbekannten Vertreter aus dem Jahr 1914 gestoßen, der uns sehr gefällt.

30 ml James E. Pepper 1776 Bourbon
30 m Antica Formula
30 ml Picon
5 ml D’Arbo Himbeersirup

Zubereitung: Gerührt.

Alternativ und von uns aktuell bevorzugt:

30 ml Eagle Rare 10 Bourbon
30 m Berto Rosso Superiore
30 ml Picon
5 ml Freimeister Himbeere

Auf der Suche nach Cocktails mit Picon stießen wir auf diesen vergessenen Drink. Der Crescent Cocktail wurde erstmals 1914 von Jacques Straub publiziert. Die letzte Erwähnung haben wir 1948 gefunden, danach kennt man den Cocktail nicht mehr.

Woher er seinen Namen hat, läßt sich nicht feststellen. „Crescent“ bedeutet wörtlich übersetzt Halbmond oder Mondsichel. Man könnte vermuten, daß er etwas mit New Orleans zu tun habe, denn wie Herbert Green in seinem 1895 erschienenen Buch „Mixed Drinks“ feststellt, war „Crescent City“ ein populärer Name für New Orleans. Dann jedoch müßte der Cocktail allerdings „Crescent City Cocktail“ heißen. Insgesamt haben wir drei verschiedene Crescent City Cocktails gefunden, erschienen 1935, 1940 und 1948. Diese Crescent City Cocktails sind jedoch etwas gänzlich anderes als der Crescent Cocktail. Wir haben die Fundstellen im Anhang angegeben.

Mehr können wir über diesen Drink leider nicht sagen, aber deswegen mundet er ja nicht weniger gut.
